Aaron Corby

I'm Aaron Corby, a Yorkshire-based web and graphic designer.

I've had a passion for the web for as long as I remember, working on countless personal projects as a hobby before deciding it was time to turn my hobby into a career.

F1 Boom

A Formula 1 news & information website

Work Related Learning 2 called for a self-defined brief based on the question “What else do you do?”. One of my main interests is motorsport, and so an F1-themed website was developed.

I plan to continue with an F1-related personal project in the coming months [under a different name].

AppSqueeze

A software news & reviews website concept

As part of a self-managed learning plan, I undertook the development of a software news and review website, allowing multiple authors to submit content and regular users to contribute via comments and forum posts.

I learnt a lot throughout this process, building on my existing knowledge and generating a lot of reusable elements which will make their way into my future projects.

The Magic Circle

A redesign of the current website

The Magic Circle website was very dated at the time we covered Digital Imaging.

I conducted a sympathetic redesign of the homepage. It was tempting to take a totally different approach to the existing brand, however I felt it was important to remain sympathetic to the current style.

What Wakefield Women Want

What Wakefield Women Want is a bi-monthly networking event for women in the Wakefield area. They required a new website to accompany the launch of the event.

With just two weeks to scope, design and develop the website, we didn't have long, however I got the website up and running quickly, working with Antony's design to build a WordPress-powered website in just over a day.

The Hepworth

Yorkshire's major new gallery

The Hepworth provided us with an opportunity to work with their images, content and other resources to produce websites with the new gallery as the theme.

I worked to The Hepworth's brand guidelines to design something that was sympathetic to the existing brand, and then developed a WordPress powered website.

PDGC

Pontefract & District Golf Club

PDGC approached us to design and develop a new website. They required the ability to update the website, and a password-protected member area.

We opted for WordPress as the CMS, and I worked to integrate this into a static version of the website.

We have since provided one-on-one training to those responsible for updating the website.

Wakefield Artwalk

Wakefield's Alternative Night Out

The Wakefield Artwalk website was handed to me after the initial design had been converted to a basic WordPress-powered website.

Like a few of the websites I have worked on over the past few months, I took on the role of completing the project and getting it live, including the development of an interactive map.
